Lightnin' Willie and the Poorboys seem to be living on the edge while straddling the musical industry fence of making it and having already arrived. Their songs tell stories of good times, hard times and those special days when memory refuses to take a vacation. Better than dreams simple reminders of events that have happened and why they're so memorable. Having graced stages all over the U.S., U.K. and Europe from Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnic in Fort Worth Texas to the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland and Ireland's Monahan Festival to the Ignite Series at the Royal Albert Hall in London with everything in between all the while making a name for themselves on the internet which keeps it's fan base growing.
L.W.P.B. often calls itself the "hardest-working band in the world" and part of its strife may also be its secret to success - they don't fit into any set formula. There's obvious blues elements in their music being Delta, Chicago, Texas, Country Blues and a lot of melody which comes from other inflences. So it's always been confusing, but they seem to have a home in 'Americana Electric Blues'. Lightnin' Willie is the main song writer and focuses on the energy of each song, seeking a specific idenity(style). He admits that listeners are often surprised to find such a wide range of songs on the same album. Most of his songs are really about emotions, the feelings and experiences of life nothing complex, just life. They maintain that they are an original band as they do few cover songs and the ones they do are well played as to let it stay true to it's original sound while reflecting they own style. Their recordings are half of what they are, the other half is their incredible 'LIVE' show which is where they bring their songs to life and unfortunately a lot of people buying their CD may not get the chance to experience a live show. As ever they continue to tour and this year is a continuation of the never ending "NO BLACK NO WHITE JUST BLUES TOUR" which will be coming to a town near you. Willie says, " We'll travel twenty hours to do a two hour show and a lot of energy gets stored up and that lights the fuse to a great performance".
